Our Mission

Our mission is to support athletes and coaches in achieving peak performance by integrating the science of sport psychology with practical, personalized strategies. We believe in making mental performance training accessible, relatable, and impactful across all levels of sport. Through collaboration, education, and applied coaching, we help individuals build the mental resilience, focus, and confidence needed to thrive in competitive environments—and beyond.

MSc Kinesiology (University of Lethbridge, 2024)

BA Psychology (University of British Columbia, 2022)

Courtney Stevens was born and raised in Canmore, Alberta, where she developed a strong appreciation for the town’s tight-knit community and vibrant sporting culture. These early influences sparked a lifelong passion for sport and mental performance. In 2022, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus, with a consistent focus on the mental side of athletic performance.

Her interest in sport psychology evolved naturally from her own athletic background. Courtney competed at a high level in soccer across Canmore, Cochrane, and Calgary, including time with the Vancouver Whitecaps Development Academy, and later transitioned into coaching roles with youth programs and development camps. These early experiences highlighted for her the importance of mental preparation in sport and inspired her to support athletes beyond the physical domain.

Courtney went on to complete a Master of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Lethbridge, conducting research in the Psychology for Active Living and Sport (PALS) Lab under Dr. Paige Pope. Her thesis focused on developing novel pre-performance anxiety management strategies for athletes at various competitive levels, which were then distributed via the Sport Psychology for Coaches website. This work, supported by the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship, was published in the Journal of Sport Psychology in Action and contributes to bridging the gap between coaching practice and applied mental skills training.

Throughout her graduate studies, Courtney was actively engaged in academic and applied settings. She worked as a research assistant, collaborated with ACE Volleyball Club to deliver mental performance training, and remained involved in professional circles. She is a member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association, the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA), and the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology (SCAPPS).Now working as a performance coach, Courtney partners with athletes and coaches to strengthen mental skills and optimize performance.

Grounded in sport, science, and service, Courtney founded CS Sport Performance to bring accessible, evidence-based mental performance support to athletes and coaches who want to perform at their best - on and off the field. Inspired by her own experiences as a competitive athlete and coach, and driven by a belief that mental preparation is just as crucial as physical training, Courtney created her consulting business to bridge the gap between sport science and real-world application. Through CS Sport Performance, she empowers individuals and teams with practical tools to manage pressure, build confidence, and unlock their full potential.
